End of Year Wrap Up
This past year has thrown challenges at the construction industry both here in Tasmanian and across Australia. The impacts on our industry are unprecedented. We should also be prepared for ongoing impacts for the next 12 months at least.
Despite these challenges, as a business we are exceptionally well placed to weather the headwinds of this boom cycle. Our robust financial position supported by NEX Building Group, should continue to give you, our customers, the peace of mind that we will be here when the dust eventually settles.
Earlier in 2021 we were excited to open our latest display home at Howrah Gardens, the Milano design featuring the striking Miami facade. It has been incredible popular since opening and will also feature on the next series of 'Australia's Best House' due to air on the Nine Network in early 2022.
I am also happy to share with you the news that we have commenced our next display home in Latrobe, the Marbella design featuring the Delta facade. This home is due to open in mid-2022 and we're excited to be launch a display on the coast.
Furthermore, there are 3 new designs in planning for future display homes, two for Southern Tasmania and one for Norther Tasmania. We hope to open these late in 2022 and I look forward to being able to share more information on these stunning homes very soon.
Recently the Master Builders Tasmania and Housing Industry Australia award were help, and Wilson was proud to receive awards at both of these events.
- Winner Master Builders Tasmanian Best Display Home for our Youngtown Display
- Winner Master Builders Tasmanian Residential Workplace Health & Safety
- Winner HIA Tasmanian Commercial Joinery for our MyChoice Design Studio in Hobart
- Winner HIA Tasmanian Professional Major Builder. This was the 13th year in a row winning this award and something the team is incredibly proud of.
This year we continued our sponsorship with Cricket Tasmania as the naming rights sponsor of the Cricket Tasmania Premier League, as well as the community partner for the Hobart Hurricanes.
We are incredibly proud to be providing support for these wonderful community and school programs. In addition to this sponsorship the Hobart Chargers also joined the Wilson Hoes family, with Wilson Homes becoming their community partner as well.
Since opening our MyChoice cafe in the Hobart HQ we have formed a strong partnership with Make-A-Wish to become our official charity partner. Every coffee we make in the cafe, Wilson Homes donates $1 to Make-A-Wish. And I’m pleased to say that Wilson Homes has donated over $9,000 from the café in 2021. In addition to this, we recently provided an additional donation of $10,000 to Make-A-Wish, presenting them with this cheque at our 2021 Supplier Thank You Gala taking the total to over $19,000.
The outlook for Wilson Homes is very positive on the back of a strong pipeline of work, we are continuing to invest in our business, bringing exciting display homes and a refreshed portfolio of plans to allow us to continue to deliver more homes for deserving Tasmanians as the State’s largest and most trusted home builder. We know what a privileged job we have, building a home for a family and we don’t take it for granted.
On behalf of the entire team at Wilson Homes I wish you and your family a safe and happy Christmas.
