Global Styling
The Global style is all about reflecting a deep love for global adventure. Rooted in an admiration for the world’s many diverse cultures, it is a beautiful, artful blend of worldly finds, earthy material, and exotic patterns.
The MyChoice Design team have created four subsets within the style to help you really tailor your perfect Global home – Bohemian, Electric, Fusion and Zen.
STREET ENVY
Warm tones, texture and the use of timber or tiles enrich a Zen home. Large windows will capture the essence of the landscape, bring the outside in and bring the style to life. For a true sense of history and traditional architecture, use a textured, earthy coloured brick. To add warmth and continuity between inside and out, use timber panelling to the portico or alfresco ceiling.
COOKING IN THE KITCHEN
Use interesting, unique handles to evoke a look of cultural influence. Choose benchtops referencing the stunning texture and pattern detail of natural stone. Rich, natural materials with a matte or textured finish add authenticity and realism, as well as emphasising history. Global kitchens are all about family, so feel free to leave your appliances on show to draw everyone around the space.
BATHROOM BLISS
Choose above-counter basins with an organic shape and steer away from harsh edges. Add tapware in a brass or gold finish for a touch of luxury. Mix metals on your tapware to create an Eclectic style.
UNDER YOUR FEET
Tiles should reflect the feeling of a bygone era, so a matte textured tile is a great choice for main flooring areas. Natural stone inspired tiles pay homage to the traditional tiles of yesteryear. When choosing carpet, opt for texture and earthy tones. Timber flooring with a bit of character is perfect with this style so choose timber with an aged, stripped-back feel.
MYSTYLE TILE
Use the same tiles internally as you have used externally to create a connection to the natural landscape. An ornate feature tile that reflects the region of your home is a great way to pay respect to the Global style.
LIGHT UP YOUR LIFE
Brushed metals like gold, bronze or brass enhance the look of a pendant light. Be sure to maintain scale and remember large pendants will draw the attention to the room. Don’t forget external wall lights to highlight the façade and reflect the outdoor architecture. Don’t be afraid to introduce a light with an unusual shape. This will echo the region this style is inspired by.
EYE FOR DETAIL
Use brushed metallic finishes on hardware to reflect the detail in your furniture. Choose textured timbers to create an aged feeling in the space. Match internal doors to your cabinetry profile to create cohesion in your home. Add timber cladding to a ceiling inside or in the alfresco to bring warmth and reflect a look yesteryear.
